Probably the most common question we get when we tell people we’re taking a trip to Japan is “Why Japan?” We started talking one day about what we should do to celebrate Ryan’s 40th birthday this year and thought we should take a trip. Over the last 9.5 years, we’ve done a few weekend trips here and there. We’ve also been lucky enough to be sent to fun destinations through my photography work – but that meant only Ryan was on vacation. I still had work to focus on.
Once we decided we wanted to take a trip, we talked about destinations. I’ve only been to Mexico, Central America and various islands in the Caribbean. Ryan has been to those places as well as England. So we decided to aim for somewhere we’ve never been.
As most of you probably already know, we’re major Disney nerds (ok, so we’re major everything nerds, we know, we know) and Tokyo DisneySea is generally recognized as the BEST Disney park in the world. So we thought, how about Japan? Well once we started researching more about everything Japan had to offer, we were sold!

Another thing you probably know about us is that we absolutely love food. I’ve never met a steamed bun, gyoza or sushi roll I didn’t love. And the noodles! We can’t wait to eat all.the.ramen. Japan has amazing cuisine to offer and we are really excited to eat our way through all the street food stalls, conveyor belt sushi shops, vending machines and gourmet convenience stores.
We’ve spent the last several months following vloggers as they travel their way through Japan and everything just looks so wonderful! The temples and shrines are gorgeous, Mt. Fuji is absolutely majestic and Tokyo looks quirky and exciting.
I can’t wait to share our very own trip with you!
