Day 12: Travel Day to Orlando

We had one last soak in the jacuzzi and breakfast downstairs before packing up. I don’t know how but everything fit better than when we came to Japan.

We left Andon Ryokan around 9:15am and the trains were still crazy from rush hour. We waited for the 4th train to come through at our stop before we could fit on board. We rode to Ueno Station then on to Tokyo Station. We bought Narita Express tickets and then dropped our luggage in a locker. We rode out to Ginza Station to see the Godzilla Statue before coming back to wander around Tokyo Station.

We went back to Traveler’s Factory and bought Tokyo Station exclusive bags for our midori notebooks. Then we jumped on our last train ride! The airport seemed so empty compared to when we landed the prior week (which feels like a lifetime ago!). Ryan got one last Strawberry McFizz from McDonald’s, we got pins from the gachagacha machine at Traveler’s Factory, and went through security and immigration.

His favorite drink ever, Strawberry McFizz!

The whole process was really fast! We had one last ramen meal which was even more expensive than our pizza! So our most expensive meal was Restaurant Sakura at DisneySea, then the airport ramen and then our yummy pizzas. We bought some Tokyo Banana because we still hadn’t tried any yet and found some strawberry Kit Kats to bring home.

When we checked in for our flight we tried a pro travel trip. There was a set of three seats together so we chose the aisle and the window and left the middle open. No one took the middle seat so we had extra space on the flight! It was such a huge help to have a little extra room.

The food this flight was pretty terrible. We landed in Houston, went through customs, then had to go through security again, but it looked like that security area was only for people with connecting domestic flights after an international flight. The whole process took less than an hour so we still had about three hours until the flight to Orlando. We grabbed burgers at a sit-down bar and then grabbed water and some snacks for our last flight home. It was a ridiculously long travel day made better by Courtney and Bradd picking us up at the airport. It was nice to be home!
